In the Philippines, there are roughly 12 million homes that are still without light or are on the threshold of having their electricity shut down. Because of this, Eastwood went on to support a foundation called “A Liter of Light.” The goal of the organization is to light up 1 million homes by 2015 using Coke bottles, water, bleach and sealant to create solar light bulbs. Eastwood volunteers made a total of 21 solar bulbs and lit up four houses in the Barangay Pinaglabanan, San Juan Community. It was indeed a fulfilling experience to make the light bulbs ourselves and install them despite the rain that made the tin roofs of these houses very slippery. It wasn’t easy but the teamwork, camaraderie and each volunteer’s willingness to really help our unfortunate fellow-Filipinos made it easy. This is Eastwood making a difference.
